A few photos from my recent painting of Castle Lane in Garstang. A few passersby/residents seemed a bit bemused about why I had chosen to paint this quiet country lane. If I’m honest, I was intending on painting Greenhalgh Castle a bit further down but my wife was with me and she wanted to stay in the car to do some work so I decided I’d stay close by and paint the castle another day. This view then caught my eye due to the side lit shadows across the road and the tree casting interesting shapes on the side of the house. I also liked the strong sense of atmospheric perspective. It was a lovely quiet place to paint anyway and I’ll definitely be back soon to tackle the castle.
